Srinagar- Police on Thursday arrested a person and booked him under POSCO Act for allegedly sexually abusing a minor in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
On September 22, Police Station Khag received a written complaint from a lady complainant stating that her four-year-old son was sexually abused by a man identified as Mohammad Ashraf Lone of Hamchipora Khag, a police spokesperson said. The victim, he said, was taken to PHC Khag and subsequently referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar for specialised treatment.
Upon receipt of this complaint, the spokesperson said, a case FIR number 52/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at police station Khag and investigation initiated.
“Acting swiftly, a police party arrested the accused child abuser on the same day. The accused was produced before Juvenile Board and remained in the custody of Juvenile Home,” he said.
“Today the accused was produced before the Medical Board to ascertain his actual age and the Board established that the accused is an adult. The accused stands already arrested and booked under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act. Further investigation of the case is going on,” he added.
