Srinagar: State government Thursday claimed that the patch work of all roads which are in bad shape will be carried out within a few days and other maintenance works like resurfacing will be completed by the end of current year.
Minister for R&B, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari said It is true that the maximum roads of the valley especially in the Srinagar City are in dilapidated condition. The deteriorated condition of the City roads creates hurdle for traffic movement. The government has prepared a plan to carry out the repair and other patch work on roads within a next couple of days,
He said that under the proposal, the PWD will carry out maintenance work on roads. The process to float tenders in this regard will be started within a few days. The basic patch works will be done within two three weeks besides the measures will also be initiated by the government to carry out heavy maintenance works in the roads, he said.
The Minister also expressed concern over the worsening condition of the highway and said that the government has put up the issue with the Union Transport ministry. The government has put up the matter of bad condition of National highway with the Union transport ministry and has urged for the early completion of the highway projects, he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the devastating floods last year hit almost all the roads badly. KNS
