Jammu: The Inter-media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) today reviewed functioning of media units of I&B Ministry and other constituents of the committee at their meeting held at DDK Jammu. The meeting was chaired by Shri Obaidur Rahman who stressed the need to create greater awareness about various important central government schemes and programmes via media. The media units have a vital role to play in highlighting the current issues challenging the society like the ongoing epidemic, he added.
The main focus of the meeting was the role of Media Units in highlighting various central government schemes and programes like PMs Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Direct Benefit Transfer, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Aadhar card etc. The Chairman stressed upon the recently launched Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of the central government. Shri Rahman also impressed upon the Media units to focus on the annual Amarnath Yatra to create greater awareness among the yatris for smooth conduct of the event which is commencing in July.
Programme Head, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu Ms. Anjali Sharma, informed the meeting about the activities of DDK Jammu, especially the coverage of programmes on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, legal services, preventive measures to combat swine flu epidemic.
Station Director, Radio Kashmir Srinagar Ms. Rukhsana Jabeen informed the chair that the unit is doing special programmes related to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao namely Bazm-e-Niswaan, special audience programmes in regional languages, programmes on legal services and Swine flu etc.
Dy. Director, State Information Department, Ms. Afshan Masood said that the District Information Officers in collaboration with District Development Commissioners are working on various state and central government programmes including Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Swine flu prevention.
