Srinagar- Locals from Golpora, Summerbugh and Shalina localities in the city outskirts have complained of bad roads. Locals from these localities say they have long complained of bumpy rides but authorities have failed to get the roads blacktopped.
Residents say the link road from Lasjan Bridge to Pampore is in shambles and authorities have turned a blind eye to their problems.
“The roads in our locality are full of potholes and travelling has become very difficult. The vital road link connecting Srinagar to Pulwama internally has not been macadamized from the last few years”, said Touheed Hussain, a resident of Golpora.
“Authorities are delaying macadamization for reasons better known to them” he added.
Locals say all these localities are hubs of construction business including bricks and other material yet no one pays heed to the crumbling road infrastructure.
“In my living memory, I have never seen this road getting macadamized, all the building materials needed in the city comes from our locality yet our roads remain the same” said Kifayat Hussain, a resident of Shalina.
“This is a typical example of Chirag Tale Anhera” he said.
Usually roads are blacktopped during the start of the summer months but as the summer season is coming to an end, locals fear a long winter with bad roads awaits them.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer, Chief R&B Chief Engineer Er Rafiq Ahmad Rafiq said he will look into the matter.
