Srinagar, Mar 6 (KNS): To review the availability of essentials in view of the closure of National Highway, the District Development Commissioner Srinagar convened a meeting of officers of CAPD, Food Safety Organization and representatives of various Oil Companies here today.
The meeting was informed that 1543 Kilolitres of Petrol, 9732 Kilolitres of Diesel, 4394 Kilolitres of K. Oil besides 2.56 lakh of LPG Cylinders are available with the Oil Companies for the consumers.
It was given out that the stock of petroleum products is sufficient for 25 to 30 days. It was informed that all the essential commodities are sufficiently available in the district.
The meeting was also informed about scarcity of mutton in some pockets and steps are being taken to address the problem.
The District Development Commissioner directed the concerned authorities for intensifying market checking to prevent profiteering and hoarding of essentials. He urged the officers to ensure that quality products are available to the people on reasonable rates.
Meanwhile, sufficient stock of food grains and petroleum products including LPG Cylinders are available with CAPD, FCI and Oil Companies based in Valley including 5.54 lakh quintals of Rice, 1.11 lakh of Wheat, 7690 quintals of Atta and 11180 quintals of Sugar.
