SRINAGAR, March 02: To brush up the journalism skill and expertise of media persons including information Officers and Camera-persons of Information Department, the weeklong refresher-cum-training course organized by Department of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with Educational Multi-Media Research Centre (EMMRC) at auditorium of EMMRC, University of Kashmir concluded here today.
The Dean Social Science, Kashmir University, Prof. Naseem Ahmad Shah, Director EMMRC, Dr. Shahid Rasool and Deputy Director Information (PR) Mr. Farooq Ahmad Baba besides Course Coordinator, EMMRC, Dr. Saleem Jan and other staff members of EMMRC were present on the valedictory function.
The course was aimed at to develop journalistic skills besides sharing of experiences between media persons and academia in tune with the modern technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Naseem highlighted the role of media in peace, progress and prosperity of a state besides advocating the cause of common people. He said that it is the prime responsibility of media to highlight truth and help the layman get justice at all levels. Media plays an essential role in raising awareness among the people about the development and welfare programmes of the government, he added.
Dr. Shahid Rasool appreciated the organisors for holding such an informative programme which would further enhance the efficiency of the department.
Deputy Director Information said such refresher courses provide an opportunity to the participants update their knowledge with latest developments and technological innovations in their field of literature.
During the weeklong course, resource persons from University, print and electronic media delivered lectures on the subject.
Course Coordinator, EMMRC, Dr. Saleem Jan also hailed the efforts of Information Department and active participation of participants for making this course successful.
On the occasion, certificates were distributed among the participants.
