Srinagar- As many as 259 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday while no fresh fatality was reported in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
Kashmir Valley registered 238 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus while the remaining 21 were detected in Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the onset of pandemic in J&K to 476703, officials said Wednesday.
In the Valley, they said, Srinagar reported the highest 74 new cases of virus, Baramulla 62, Budgam 49, Pulwama 21, Anantnag 13, Bandipora 9, Kupwara 6, Kulgam 3 and Shopian 1. No new cases were reported from Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of nine new cases of virus, Ramban 7, Udhampur 2 and one each in Rajouri, Samba and Kishtwar districts. The remaining four districts of Doda, Kathua, Poonch and Reasi reported no new cases of Covid-19.
Also, the officials said that the death toll in the pandemic remained unchanged at 4779 in J&K, as no fresh fatality due to virus was reported during the last 24 hours.
“Moreover, 303 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 25 from Jammu division and 278 from Kashmir division,” they added.
