Srinagar- National Medical Commission (NMC) increased four MD Psychiatry seats at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.
As per the letter of intent issued by Member/President, MARB, National Medical Commission (NMC) on 18th August, 2022, a copy of which lies with Kashmir Observer, the admission for new seats would start from the academic year 2022-23.
“It is to inform that Medical Assessment and Rating Board has reviewed the assessor’s report on 16th July, 2022 regarding faculty, their experience, publication, and other teaching facilities including infrastructure available at GMC Srinagar under the University of Kashmir, for an increase of seats in MD (Psychiatry) for the academic year 2022-23,” the letter of intent issued by MARB states.
“Four seats have been approved in MD Psychiatry. The commission has decided to obtain undertaking/essential document for the issue of permission for increase in seats in MD Psychiatry with annual intake of 12 seats for the Academic year 2022-2023”
“The applicant should provide all infrastructural facilities in terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, building equipments and other hospital facilities as per National Medical Commission norms”.
The letter further states that no student should be admitted to the course till the formal permission of MARB.
“The private medical college should provide a bank guarantee of required amount against the increase of four seats in favor of National Medical Commission, New Delhi valid for three years or till the course is recognized, whichever is later, from a nationalized/scheduled bank as per the NMC/MCI’s norms,”
The medical colleges or institutions are also supposed to provide an undertaking to implement the decision regarding the payment of stipends to the PG students similar to PG students of GMCs in their state.
According to the letter, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board(MARB) reserves the right to withdraw/cancel/revoke the letter of intent/letter of permission if it comes to the notice that the permission has been obtained from MARB by misrepresentation of fact or fraud,”.
“It should be incumbent upon the medical college that the information relating to admission should be submitted within the time specified in the circular in this regard issued by this office from time to time”.
The letter further states that the action to grant formal permission of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board(MARB) for increase in intake/starting of the said course at the college will be initiated on receipt of appropriate bank guarantee.
“The acceptance letter may be sent within one week from the date of issue of this letter”, the letter adds.
