Budgam: Amid shutdown, hundreds of people staged a massive protest against the Court verdict and self-styled faith healer Gulzar Bhat at Khansahib, Kremshore, Yechkoot after Friday congregation prayers here in central Kashmir on Friday.
Soon after congregation prayers residents of Khansahab, Kremshore and Yechkoot villages took to the streets and staged a massive protest against the Budgam Courts acquittal verdict in favour of Gulzar Bhat. Protesters were raising slogans against the self styled faith healer and were demanding stern action against him.
The protestors said that Court awarded its verdict in haste and did not take the evidences of rape victims into account.
The protestors lauded the role of police and said that they are thankful to them for filing an appeal in superior court against the acquittal order of Budgam court.
Calling for a severe punishment for the imposter, they said such people are serious threat to the society.
ne of the protestors told CNS that Gulzar Bhat should be shown no leniency. He said that such people not only indulge in breach of faith but also bring a bad name to the religion and genuine religious institutions.
It is a time to aware the society against such anti social elements, who through their shameful acts, have brought in a new kind of insecurity, which was unknown so far to Kashmir, he said.
The protestors demanded that Public Safety Act should be slapped on the licentious self-styled faith healer. (CNS)
