SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 25: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Rohit Kansal reviewed the arrangements put in place for opening of the artificial Phuktal Lake by National Disaster Authority of India (NDA) through a Video Conferencing with the district administration Leh and Kargil.
The Div Com took reviewed setting up of Communication Centre for prompt contact between the various agencies associated with the operation besides installation of water level monitoring station and the insurance cover to the persons involved in the operation.
While reviewing the modalities of the operation, he asked both the district administrations to evacuate the affected people to suitable safer places besides making available basic amenities to them.
The team constituted for the purpose shall start its operation soon for which the arrangements are being finalized on fast track basis.
It is pertinent to mention that the landslides blocked the flow of river Phuktal in Zanskar resulting in forming artificial Lake in the Zanskar area.
