Srinagar- The daily Coronavirus cases continue to surge in Jammu and Kashmir, as nearly 800 more people tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, even as no fresh fatality was reported across the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley registered 660 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus on Saturday while 136 others were reported from Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the onset of pandemic in J&K to 469041.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar detected the highest 219 new cases of virus followed by Baramulla with 194, Budgam 81, Kupwara 66, Anantnag 41, Kulgam 29, Bandipora 16, Pulwama 7, Ganderbal 4 and Shopian 3.
In the winter capital, Jammu reported a maximum of 52 new cases of infection, Doda 23, Ramban 16, Udhampur 12, Rajouri and Reasi 11 each, Kishtwar 10, Kathua and Samba 5 each and Poonch 2.
Also, the officials said that the death toll in the pandemic remained unchanged at 4776 —2430 in the Valley and 2346 in Jammu, as no fresh fatality was reported on Saturday.
“Moreover, 668 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 205 from Jammu division and 463 from Kashmir division,” they added.
