Srinagar: At least 968 codeine bottles were recovered by police from two drug peddlers in south Kashmirs Pampore Township of Pulwama district, an official said Friday.
Following specific information, a police party led by Station House Officer (SHO) Raja Tasleem laid a naka near Ziyarat Sharief at Dusoo in Pampore and intercepted a load carrier. After conducting checking of the load carrier which was without registration number, police recovered 968 codeine bottles and arrested two persons, the official said.
The two were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Rather, resident of Munpora Wuyan and Fayaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Dusoo Pampore.
The official said that the police were receiving regular complaints from locals and Masjid Committee about sale of drugs among youth in the area. Locals, meanwhile, have hailed police action.
