Vohra, the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has been directed to issue a circular reiterating the details of the process to be followed and the specific documentation which is required to be formulated for seeking grant of building permission in respect of the flood affected buildings and ensure its large scale publicity. These directions were issued after the Governor reviewed the to-date status of disposal of building permission cases.
An official spokesman said as per the report submitted by the Commissioner SMC, till 16th Februray 2015, building permissions had been granted in 2508 cases out of 3,494 applications received by SMC; the remaining 986 cases are under process. It may be recalled that during the meetings, held at Srinagar on 17th January 2015, to review the administration of relief and rehabilitation measures for flood affected people, the Governor had directed Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to immediately streamline the existing system of granting building permissions for the reconstruction of houses and hotels and ensure time bound responses under a single window system. The Governor had also directed for accelerating the drive for removal of encroachments and illegal structures from the water bodies and the state owned lands. The action taken by SMC is being reviewed separately next week.
