Srinagar- In a move which has brought cheers to book lovers, Gulshan Books Kashmir opened a book outlet at Srinagar International Airport on Tuesday.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Owner Gulshan Books Sheikh Aijaz said the bookstore was operational some years back.
“The government had decided to privatize the space so we had to shut the bookstore. Now that the space is again in the hands of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) we have acquired the space on contract” Aijaz said.
Aijaz said they have signed the contract for a time period of nine months which can be extended later.
The opening of the bookstore at the airport is expected to boost book sales which had significantly dropped since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
“After the coronavirus pandemic there has been an increase in the sales of books and expect good sales in the near future” he said
