Srinagar: The first android-based radio FM channel in Jammu and Kashmir City FM JK started in December 2014 by 28-year old mass communication graduate, Tariq Ahmad Salfi is picking up listeners fast.
Aimed specifically at the local audience, the radio station in Srinagar operates from a small room equipped with modest equipment like laptops and the odd sound mixer. But days after it was launched, Salfi has sold his car and invested in his humble project, one he says may be fast becoming at par with radio channels of business tycoons.
Despite poor internet connectivity in Kashmir, his local audience has grown; many claim his channel stands apart.
