SRINAGAR: A three year old girls body was found in a marshland hours after she went missing from her home in Khayam area of the city on Monday.
Police said Zahoor Ahmad Khanday resident of Bilal Colony, Khayam, today reported in Police Station Khanyar that his 3 year old girl Aksa Jan was missing from her home. Police immediately launched a search in the area and later in the day traced the missing girls body in marshland near her home. Police and SDRF had a tough time retrieving the body from water that was 20ft deep.
Police have started investigation under section 174 CrPC in this regard.
A close relative of the girl said that the deceased went missing in the morning. We searched everywhere along with police and we initially thought she might have been abducted but later her body was found near our house in Khayam, he said.
In reply to a question, he said: We dont think there is anyones hand in the incident. (GNS)
