Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) vice chairman Bashir Ahmad Butt Wednesday said legendary personalities like Mohammad Maqbool Bhat are born after centuries.
Curfew, restrictions, killings, bullets, arrest and other means of oppression can never fade away the love and affections of Kashmiris with their great leader. Maqbool is in our hearts and following his footsteps is a matter of pride for us, Butt said while delivering a message from incarcerated JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik to the participants of a rally at Maqbool Manzil Lal Chowk today regarding Maqbool Day.
Police and forces used curfew, restrictions and other oppressive means to stop the rally that was organized by JKLF and was scheduled to reach United Nations observers office to handover a memorandum asking UN to persuade Indian state to handover the mortal remains of Shaheed Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru to Kashmiris. Even media and press people were not allowed to move towards the venue of the rally. Police had laid barbed wire, at dozens of places and Maqbool Manzil was also sealed from all sides with the barbed wire. Despite these restrictions JKLF leaders and activists reached Maqbool Manzil and after removing barricades at many places moved towards Budshah Chowk, he said in a statement..
