Thousands of people on Tuesday attended the funeral of Farooq Ahmad alias Prince killed in police firing last evening in Palhalan.
According to witnesses, thousands of people, including women staged massive pro-freedom and anti-India protests in Palhalan before and after the funeral of the youth while his body was taken in a procession to local Eidgah for funeral.
Soon after funeral, people took the youth in procession to local martyrs graveyard where he was buried amid sobs and tears.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Talat Parveez, has setup an enquiry committee to investigate the killing of the youth in Palhallan.
The enquiry committee will be headed by Sub District Magistrate Pattan. The enquiry committee has been directed to submit their report at an earliest. The Deputy Commissioner has informed that an FIR has already been lodged in this matter and strict action will be taken against the culprits, an official statement read.
The Deputy Commissioner has expressed grief over the sad demise of the youth at Palhallan.
He has assured the relatives of the deceased for every possible help and assured them that Cent percent Cent justice will be done in this matter and the culprits behind this unfortunate incident will be taken to task, the statement reads.
Sub-district Magistrate Pattan said any person who is interested to submit his statement regarding the incident on 9th February can contact the SDM and submit his statement before him, an official statement said.
