SRINAGAR: Competitions in different games are underway at South Kashmir’s Pulwama. The Department of Youth Services and Sports is organising these competitions for the girl participants in the age group of under 19 years in the disciplines of Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi.
A huge number of girls from different schools of the district are participating in these activities. The joyous and very enthusiastic student players were heard expressing gratitude to the Department of Youth Services & Sports for organising such activities for them.
The event was inaugurated by the Principal of Government Women’s College Pulwama along with District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Pulwama and other senior officials of the Department.
Speaking to the participants, the DYSSO said that sports is an important aspect of every being’s life and it immensely helps in improving our health as well as teaching us some good qualities like discipline, hard work, patience, respect, teamwork, etc.
He further stated that YSS is committed to ensure the mass participation of girls and boys in different games and sports activities.
He added that extra-curricular activities play a vital role in the all round development of a person.
