Srinagar- Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said on Monday that the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir was in its last stage and the same is evident in the heavy influx of the tourists in the Union Territory.
Singh made these comments while speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of an event in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.
Replying to a question about the recent civilian killings, Singh said that from the beginning Pakistan has been indulging in these mischievous acts but the decisive action is being taken against militancy.
“Militants are on run and selecting soft targets. A decisive action is being taken against them, the action which was not witnessed over the past few years, and overall this may be the last stage of militancy. That’s the reason we are witnessing huge number of tourists visiting the valley,” he said.
Responding to another question over the remarks made by National Conference that tourist arrivals should not be linked to declining militancy, Singh said that it is an era of evidence based argument and the numbers say it all.
“Get the previous figures of tourist arrivals in the valley and you can make an idea. Speak to the hoteliers, houseboat owners, who struggled over the last few years,” he added.(KNS)
