SRINAGAR- Under the auspices of Hogam International Council, India’s Hogam Federation hosted the first Hogam sports tournament. The tournament began with a run from Dachigam National Park to Chandpora Ground. The participants had some basic race formats from the start: Sprint (3Km, with about 20 obstacles).
The Hogam Sports Relief Art has three sports branches, called Tisapa (Crossing Sports Barriers), Lightning (Individual Arts-Deformation), and The Drama (Dramatic Fighting). One of the special activities of this sport is practice in the nature of the forest, mountains, sea and desert in various climatic conditions for the purpose of sport and healthy recreation.
A large number of students participated in this tournament from different schools and clubs. Mother Land High School, Millennium International School, Crescent Public School, Iron Fist Wing Chun Academy, Leez Karate Dojo, International Tigers Martial Arts, among others were part of the tournament.
“I was pleasantly surprised with my performance especially in having the energy and strength for the obstacles, ascents, descents, and the running,” said Areeba (gold medallist in senior category).
While speaking with Mr. Parvaiz, the event’s organiser, he stated that this was India’s first hogam event and this game originated in Iran.
“In the future, we will hold hogam events in every state of India. I am grateful to all of the parents that permitted their children to participate in this event,” he said.
Syed Manzoor, Dr. Peerzada Mohammad Iqbal, Adil Hussain, Mohammad Irfan Lone, Syed Mursal Mosvi, Naveed Mukhtar, Rabia Tariq, Fazil Ahmad, Tahir Manzoor, Sahiba Nisar, Najeeb Ahmad, Dawood Sofi, Mohammad Shoaib, Muskaan, Ashiq Sultan Dar, Shahid Hilal Malik were the tournament officials.
The event was administratively supported and directed by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army to promote goodwill and friendship between the Army and the awaam, particularly youth and children.
Farooq Renzushah, Chairman of the Kashmir Society, Khushab Kumar, Area SHO, Adnan Shah (MD Fashion Fiesta) and Arshad were the guests at the event.
