Srinagar: Even after the expiry of 14 long years, police personnel inducted as constables during the year 2000-01, have not been given the incentive benefits.
Police sources told CNS that every constable is entitled for incentive promotion after he completes nine years in service, however, the constables who were inducted in Jammu and Kashmir Police Department during the year 2000 are still awaiting for their incentive promotions.
Sources further informed that in a bid to promote the qualified police constables with technical hand, Police Department conducts SGCT(M) and ASIM examinations after every two years, but from last four years, according to sources no such exam has been conducted by the department. We are highly qualified and deserve promotion. We appeal to the department to conduct this examination after every two years as was the practice in the past, a group of constables said.
AIG Personnel said that he would look into the matter. He however added that there are no hard and fast rules for conducting examinations after certain duration. The Department provides increment to the constables who are qualified and conduct exams whenever, the need arises, he said. (CNS)
