Srinagar: Scores of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) employees on Thursday staged a protest against publishing of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Paris based Charle Hebdo magazine and condemned France for hurting Muslims.
The protesters led by CAPD Employees Association president, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, assembled in the compound of CAPD Store at Shaheed Gunj and started massive sloganeering.
The protesters chanted slogans in favour of Prophet (PBUH) and Islam. They also raised anti-Charle Hebdo slogans.
Khan said it is only due to blasphemous acts like Charle Hebdo has committed, the World peace gets affected. When these people insult most revered personality, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the attacks like the one on the Charle Hebdo magazine get inevitable, he said, adding: every Muslim loves Prophet (PBUH) more than everything including his parents, family, children, wife and wealth.
Khan, who is also president of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), said no Muslim can tolerate such blasphemous acts. He said it is obligatory on all Muslims to raise voice against the Charle Hebdo and protest.
We are protesting today because it is the matter of our faith, he said.
Lashing out at Western Countries, Khan said the peace in real terms would only return to World if the teachings of Prophet (PBUH) are followed in letter and spirit. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is role model for whole world and everyone must follow his teachings for success in this world as well as hereafter, he added.
The protest continued for more than an hour and later the agitating employees dispersed off peacefully. (GNS)
