SRINAGAR– AG J&K lifted North Zone Indian Accounts and Audit Department (IA&AD) trophy while defeating AG Punjab in the final match of knockout North Zone IA&AD tournament played at Yamuna sports complex, New Delhi.
The final match of the tournament was between team AG J&K and AG Punjab on Thursday. While winning the toss AG J&K skipper Omar Alam decided to bat fi rst. Batting first team JK set 150 runs on board for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Henan Malik with 36 runs, Bandeep Singh 61 runs and Waseem Raza with 32 runs were the highest scorers for team AG J&K.
For team AG Punjab, Vikas Mishra took three wickets while as Dhiraj Kumar took two wickets and were the team’s top wicket takers. While chasing the target of 150 runs AG Punjab fell short of 10 runs. They scored 139 for loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs respectively.
Jaskaran Butta with 43 runs and Akash Vashist with score of 46 runs were the top scorers for team Punjab. Mohammed Mudasir scalped two wickets whereas Waseem two wickets, Abid Mushtaq two wickets, whereas Omar and Ram one wicket each for team J&K.
While talking to Kashmir Observer, AG J&K team captain Omar Alam said that the tournament was a knockout based tournament which is being played each year in which six teams have participated including AG Punjab, AG Haryana, AG U.P., AG Uthrakhand, AG Shimla and AG J&K.
With this triumph team J&K has qualified for all India cricket tournament in which two teams including the winner and runners up teams qualify from each pool/zone.
The All India level cricket tournament shall be played at Kochi, Kerala from May 19 to 21, 2022.
“It is the first time in the history of IA&AD North Zone cricket tournament that team J&K won this tournament,” Alam told KO.
