Srinagar: While terming the custodial torture and forcefully obtaining signature on the charge sheet of a Kashmiri Tihar jail detainee Mushtaq Ahmad Lone by the NIA as worst kind of state terrorism, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani condemned it in strong words.
While demanding investigation into the incident by any independent agency, Geelani in a statement he said, The investigation agency of India NIA has been constituted to implicate the Indian Muslim particularly the Kashmiri Youths in the fabricated and false cases and detaining them in jails on these false allegation for years together and this institution has also become an important source for extortion.
With reference to the family members of Mushtaq Ahmad Lone Kanailwan Bijbihara, he said, This youth was arrested from his home in June 2014 by NIA and was shifted to Delhi where this institution filed a false and fabricated case against him and shifted him to Tihar jail.
According to the relatives of Mushtaq Ahmad, now after the 6 months of his arrest, NIA took his remand from Tihar jail for few days and during this process he was brought to Srinagar where he was subjected to the third degree torture and was forced to sign his charge sheet in which a long list of false and baseless allegations was prepared, he said.
While raising questions over the role of NIA, the Hurriyat (G) Chairman said, This investigation institution has set-up an illegal network in the entire Jammu & Kashmir and for this purpose the state constitution and the state institutions have not been consulted. The state of Jammu & Kashmir has its own separate constitution and own law and according to it no investigation institution of India is authorized to directly question any citizen of the state and in this regard the Ranbhir Panal Code (RPC) cant be ignored in any way.
Although without taking into account the state constitution, the NIA is not only operating in whole Jammu & Kashmir, it has become a big source for extorting money from the people. This institution has obtained phone numbers of many well-off persons and at first they are threatened over phone to implicate them in the Hawala money cases and then they are demanded to pay ransom for their let-off, Geelani said.
