Srinagar: Expressing dismay over the dilapidated condition of centuries old heritage Kashmir Golf Course, parks and other leisure sites in Srinagar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and MLA elect Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has lamented the diversion of funds meant for maintenance of heritage and recreational sites in Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Bukhari blamed the official indifference and the apathetic attitude of the Commissioner Secretary Tourism for being responsible for the lost sheen of Kashmir Golf Club and other recreational sites in Valley. It is a matter of serious concern that funds meant for restoration of such an important golfing locale are being diverted to other regions which were not affected by the floods at all, the MLA Elect observed.
Bukhari said that instead of allocating more funds for the post-flood restoration work at heritage Kashmir Golf Club, the reports about curtailment in routine budgetary allocations is a matter of serious concern. He said that such discriminatory tendencies have marred the tourism developmental plans that could have contributed in the stability of fragile economy of Kashmir.
