Srinagar- Police on Monday arrested a man on charges of collecting funds in the name of banned Jama’at-e-Islami in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
Mohamad Amin Ganie of Microwave Colony, Kanlibagh was arrested by police and army’s 46RR after receiving specific information that he was collecting funds in the name of banned organization Jama’at-e-Islami in Baramulla town, a police spokesperson said Monday. Ganie was riding a scooty when apprehended.
The spokesperson said that three receipt books of Jama’at, 1 mobile phone and a cash of Rs 15900, which he had collected from the people in the name of banned organization JeI, was also recovered.
“During further investigation, a search was also carried out at his house at Kanlibagh Baramulla where from 2 JK Bank Passbook, 3 JK Bank Cheque Books and blank booklet of Jama’at-e-Islami was recovered,” he said.
Accordingly, the spokesperson said, a case FIR number 68/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been started.
“Police requests general public to help them in identifying anti-national & anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment, so that action can be taken against them,” he added.
