Srinagar- Digit 13, believed by most of the Westerners, as unlucky, seems to be haunting Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in his race to the Prime Ministership of India.
Vajpayee shall have to waddle to South Block by warding off the unlucky 13, with political astuteness. The digit 13 seems to be shadowing the new Indian Prime Minister as his first ever stint as the country’s chief executive lasted for just 13 days, in 1996, when he failed to win confidence vote in the Lok Sabha.
This time, Vajpayee, who is leading a 13 party alliance, to run the affairs of the government, won the crucial confidence vote, with just a margin of 13.
With many volatile political personalities in his alliance, Vajpayee will have to exorcise his government from the ghost of digit 13, by managing support of some more members. May be Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference lends him a hand, in raising the “unlucky” number from 13 to 15.
