Srinagar- Unidentified militants on Monday lobbed a grenade on the camp of Special Operations Group (SOG) in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
According to the reports, the grenade was thrown towards the SOG camp in Imam Sahab area by unknown militants on Monday evening. The grenade, reports said, exploded with a bang. However, no reports of loss to life or property was received in the attack
Soon after the attack, the SOG personnel launched a search operation in the vicinity to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, Police claimed to have arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants from central Kashmir’s Budgam district, two days after an attack left a Special Police Officer (SPO) and his brother dead.
Waseem Ahmad Ganai s of Ramnagri & Iqbal Ashraf Sheikh of Sedow Shopian were arrested by a joint team of police and army’s 62 RR from Sunnergund area of Budgam, a police spokesperson said Monday. The duo, he said, were active militants of LeT.
“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including a Chinese Pistol, 02 pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds and 32 AK-47 rounds have been recovered from their possession,” he said.
Accordingly, the spokesperson said a case FIR number 87/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation into the matter is in progress.
