SRINAGAR: More than 280 persons in valley were killed last year in deadly road accidents while as around 2500 persons were severely injured.
According to official figures, 53 persons were killed in Srinagar last year in road mishaps and 13 among them were killed in July only.
In 2013, 2236 road accidents were witnessed in Kashmir valley in which 288 claimed lives. 351 persons were killed while as 3010 people injured during that year.
However, figures reveal that has been a decline in the percentage of road accidents in Kashmir valley as compared to 2013. This year the decline is 16.5 percent whileas the accidents that claimed lives had a decline of 8.3 percent.
Police reports informed that there has been the decline of 19.94 percent in which precious lives were lost and for road accident injuries, a decline of 15.74 percent has been witnessed.
In 2014, 1885 road accidents witnessed in the Kashmir valley in which 264 proved fatal. 53 precious lives were also lost due to the road accidents during that period.
In Srinagar, 14 persons were killed in accidents during July last year.
Pertinently, on Monday eight persons died while five others were injured in two separate road accidents in the valley.
