Srinagar- Asia’s largest tulip garden is all set to open for visitors with 1.5 million flowers, tulips the highlight among them, on spectacular show. On March 23, the gates of the garden will be thrown open for visitors, Director Floriculture Farooq Ahmad Rather, said on Thursday.
He said at least 1.5 million flowers, especially tulips, are in bloom this year at the Srinagar garden. The other prominent flowers that will bloom are daffodil, hyacinth, he said. Besides various flowering trees like Macedonia, Forsythias, Apricots, Ornamental Peaches are also planted in the garden.
The Director Floriculture further said that the department has taken steps to make adequate arrangements for the opening day. He stated that all the Covid related guidelines issued by the District Development Commissioner will be followed in letter and spirit.
Spread over an area of about 30 hectares, the Tulip Garden in Srinagar was opened in 2007 to boost tourism in Kashmir Valley. (KNO)
