New Delhi: Indian Muslim cleric and president Jamat Ulma-e-Hind Maulana Suhaib Qasmi who campaigned for BJP during poll process in Kashmir Valley Saturday claimed BJP is in mood to succumb before the demands of Peoples Democratic Party. He said that both National Conference and PDP were eager to win the confidence of BJP and even all the independent members secretly met the BJP party leaders and extended their support to the party.
BJP had kept its options open but the party decided not to forge any alliance with PDP or NC as both the parties instead of raising pro-people issues showed eagerness to grab more and more berths in Cabinet and Legislative Council, Qasmi told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that BJP is ready for fresh elections and will surely open its account from Kashmir valley.
BJP has come at the conclusion that any government with the support of either PDP or NC will not survive for a long time as these parties can create problems any time. Both NC and PDP are regional parties but they have not interest in people and always talk about the power and chair, Qasmi alleged.
He said that those elected independent members who talk of only supporting a secular government are befooling people of Kashmir as, all these members one by one secretly met BJP top brass and demanded cabinet berths for themselves.
How can trust a party that fights on the issue of power sharing and puts a demand that a particular number of members should be indicted into Legislative council and cabinet. During all the deliberations with both NC and PDP, our party realized that these parties are interested in power rather than in solving the problems of the people, he said.
Qasmi added that it is not correct that only PDP was in touch with BJP. It was National Conference that held talks with BJP top brass on government formation. Both NC and PDP were active on ground and were always in touch with BJP, he said.
Responding to a question, Qasmi said that the deliberations with both NC and PDP are on but the BJP is in mood to budge before their demands and is ready to face new elections. (CNS)
