BUDGAM– The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza today chaired a public darbar at High School Sogam in Chadoora block of the district.
On the occasion, the DC instructed concerned to ensure land identification for the construction of new High School building, filtration plant, playground and other facilities required to be put in place to cater to the demands of the local residents.
He also stressed on up-gradation of existing health and education related infrastructure, improvement in both electricity and water supply to the locals under different schemes.
The DC gave instructions for road connectivity development towards all adjoining village, macadamization, development of drainage system, culverts, road widening and removal of bottlenecks at all identified spots to ensure better road connectivity to locals.
He directed concerned to conduct a joint awareness cum grievance redressal camp at Sogam Panchayat Block where officers and field staff from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry ensure on spot public service delivery and grievance redressal to the demands and issues of general public.
He instructed that during the camp the officers shall also ensure dissemination of awareness regarding government sponsored schemes including self employment and enrollment of all pending beneficiaries under various health insurance schemes.
The DC further instructed Panchayat members to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of proper sanitation in all panchayat blocks of Sogam. He urged PRIs to ensure complete ban on use of one time plastic items and dumping of garbage roadside and in open areas. He said that instead use separate dustbins for proper disposal of garbage generated daily by the households.
On the occasion, various PRIs, respected elders and locals from adjoining villages raised their demands and issues including road development, playground, drinking water supply, Sumo stand facility, ATM and J&K Bank branch facility, irrigation water supply, improvement in HT, LT lines, and issues related to health and education with the DC and demanded prompt redressal.
The DC assured that all their genuine demands shall be taken up for redressal.
Among others, CEO, CMO, SDM Chadoora, Executive Engineers from various Engineering Wings, district heads of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, ARTO , DMO and other concerned officers and officials were present on the occasion.
Later, the DC also visited various spots in different blocks of Chadoora to take on spot stock of cleaning of Doodganga Nallah and instructed the concerned to ensure heavy fines are imposed against the violators for dumping garbage alongside the embankments of the stream.
He also called for keeping strict vigil on the offenders indulging in illegal extractions from the streams.
Directions were given to the concerned to ensure dumping spots are identified for all villages living alongside the stream for dumping of garbage, while as only organic fertilizers are used by all orchardists to avoid wash down of inorganic fertilizers into the stream.
The DC further directed Ex. Engineer I&FC to ensure regular spot inspections to check on violations in Doodhganga and other streams in all areas.
