Srinagar- The Deputy Commissioner, Budgam on Saturday ordered Tehsildar, Budgam to seize and close a brick kiln after it was found that the owner had sold the bricks on exorbitant rates and has also sold low quality bricks to the person.
In an order copy of which lies with Kashmir Observer, the Deputy Commissioner, Budgam found that M/S Star BDB Brick Kiln (Brick No. Star 255) Chandapora, Budgam has sold the low quality bricks to Sakib Altaf of Pratap Park, Srinagar to exorbitant rates.
Subsequently, both the parties were called to appear before the Chair
on 12 March to record their statements.
“Whereas, it has been found that the brick kiln owners) have sold the bricks at exorbitant rates and have supplied low quality material to the complainant. Now, therefore, in view of the above facts: The Tehsildar, Budgam is directed to seize and close the brick kiln (M/S Star BDB Brick Kiln (Brick No. Star 255) Chandapora, Budgam),” the order reads.
Pertinent to mention here that DC Budgam vide his office order No. DCB/Brick Kilns/2020/54, dated 21.08.2020 has fixed rate of bricks as 21000 per 3000 bricks including all taxes except transportation.
The DC has also directed the Station House Officer of police Station Budgam to lodge an FIR under section 21 of the Jammu & Kashmir Brick Kilns (Regulation) Act, 2010 against the Brick Kiln owner.
“The Brick Kiln owner are directed to deposit extra charged amount in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Budgam,” the order reads.
