The volume of vehicles on roads has increased manifold in the last few decades but roads remain the same. Stray animals on roads also adds to the traffic mess in the city. Government should step in and widen city roads so that city dwellers get rid of traffic mess in the city.

Authorities have installed traffic lights at many places in Srinagar but traffic signals are yet to be made operational. Government should prioritize operationalizing traffic lights. I think it will play an important role in reducing traffic jams.

The road infrastructure in Srinagar is not up to the mark. People use their personal vehicles for covering small distances. There is a problem with traffic management as well. Proper traffic management and upgrading road infrastructure are keys to manage the ever increasing vehicles on city roads.

People should travel more by public transport than private vehicles. This will lessen the number of vehicles on roads and help in reducing traffic jams. The administration can try old even mechanism which helps in reducing traffic jams.
