Srinagar- Unknown militants are believed to be trapped in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district where government forces launched a search operation on Friday night triggering an encounter.
According to reports, police, army and CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation in Chewaklan village of the district on Friday night on the basis of specific information about the presence of militants.
When the joint team started advances, the militants hiding in the village opened fire upon them in a bid to escape from their dragnet.
The joint forces, according to the reports, returned the fire, setting off a fierce encounter.
A local news agency KDC quoting sources said that one to two militants are believed to be trapped in the village.
