JAMMU: The meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti with the Governor N N Vohra has been preponed to December 31.
An official spokesman said the meeting will take place at the Raj Bhavan, Jammu. It is pertinent to mention here that Vohra has invited Mehbooba Mufti and BJP state president Jugal Kishore Shamra for talks over the government formation in the state.
The assembly elections threw up a fractured verdict with PDP emerging as the single largest party with 28 seats in the 87-member Assembly and BJP the second largest party with 25 seats.
National Conference won 15 seats and Congress 12. Smaller parties and independents together won seven seats.
So far no single party or combination of parties, have staked claim for formation of the goverment in the state.
PDP is holding intra-party dicusssions on possible alliances to form the next government in the state.
An elected government has to be put in place by January 19, failing which the Governor’s rule will be imposed in the state.
