SRINAGAR: Denying reports of any secret parleys between National Conference and BJP for government formation, senior party leader and MLA Khanyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar Friday termed the alleged silence of Peoples Democratic Party over Omar Abdullahs offer of support for PDP govt intriguing.
The reality is that PDP is ready for alliance with the BJP and for this its leaders Muzaffar Husain Beg and Nizam-ud-Din Bhat held several secret meetings with BJP leadership in Delhi, Sagar, who is also NC general secretary said.
Rejecting the reports that outgoing Chief Minister and NC working president Omar Abdullah held any meetings with BJP leadership in Delhi, he said, It is propaganda. He (Omar) went to Delhi as he had to proceed to London.
Reiterating his partys offer of support to PDP for government formation, Sagar said, We are ready to support PDP if it forms the government. Omar sahab had immediately after the declaration of election results offered support to PDP, but there has been no response from them which is strange. I as general secretary of NC again reiterate that if PDP wants to form the government we ready to give support to them.
However, he claimed, that PDP was willing to go with BJP due to which they werent responding to the sincere offer of NC.
There have been three secret meetings between BJP and PDP leaders in Delhi and Muzaffar Husain Beg and Nizam-ud-Din Bhat have played an important role in it. The reality of PDP has come to the fore as leaders of this party including its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during election campaigning had claimed that they were ready for anything to stop BJP juggernaut in the state, he added.
Sagar rejected reports of any contact between NC and BJP for government formation, saying, There is no question of NC supporting BJP to form the government. We have ideological differences with BJP and there cant be any compromise on that.
During our core group meeting all the MLAs have unanimously decided not to be part of BJP led government, he said and claimed it was PDP who was desperate to go with BJP.
The Assembly election results have thrown up a hung assembly in J&K with PDP emerging single largest party with 28 members followed by Bhartiya Janta Party with 25. The National Conference and Congress have bagged 15 and 12 seats respectively making it difficult for parties to choose alliance partners.
