SRINAGAR- Sadia Tariq, a two times consecutive Gold medallist in the Junior National Wushu championship, has been shortlisted by the Wushu Association of India technical committee for the Moscow Wushu Stars Wushu Championship from 22-28th February 2022 in view of the Youth Asian Games 2022.
Kashmir Valley-born Sadia has been sanctioned by the MYAS and the Sports Authority of India at ‘Cost to Government’. The Moscow Wushu Stars championship is the approved event in the ACTC (Annual Calendar Training and Competition) of SAI. The Junior and Senior India team is participating in the championship.
Sadia Tariq is based from Srinagar and has recently secured Gold medal in the 20th Junior National Wushu Championship at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, in which the J&K Wushu team remained overall 3rd in the medals tally.
In view of the Youth Asian Games slated to be held in the month of December in China, The SAI is enrolling all the probables of the YAG on the recommendations of the Wushu Association of India in the NCOEs, so that the players will be groomed to give the best in the Youth Asian Games. 05 Players from UT J&K are probables for the Youth Asian Games, which will be shortly enrolled in the different NCOE’s for the preparation of the Youth Asian Games.
Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, congratulated Wushu ‘Golden Girl’ Sadia Tariq for being the member of the Indian Wushu team for the Moscow Wushu Stars championship and wished all the best to her for the championship. She also congratulated the Wushu Association of J&K for promoting this combat sports in every nook and corner of J&K and giving platform for the Wushu athletes to exhibit their best at national and international arena.
President of Wushu Association of J&K Vijay Saraf along with all office bearers has congratulated for the feat and wished all the best for the championship.
Kuldeep Handoo, National Chief Coach of India, who is already at the National Wushu coaching camp at KIC Meerut for the 19th Asian Games, also congratulated Sadia and the whole Indian contingent for the championship. He thanked Sports authority of India and Wushu Association of India for providing the best facilities to the Wushu athletes to bring laurels for the country at the International arena.
