Srinagar – The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Friday regretted what it termed politicization of Kashmir business.
“The KCCI had welcomed the initiative of the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi about helping Kashmir by expanding the base of debate over the revival of the moribund economy that has somehow survived a crisis of more than two decades,” KCCI said in a statement here.
It, however, expressed serious concern over the apparent conspiracy aimed at diluting the stake-holding of local business in the decision making about J&K economy.
It was shocking that the Congress leader and the business delegation that accompanied him interacted with the members of a Delhi-based business organisation that lacks representation in the state business.
We regret politicisation of the Kashmir business that has been desperately trying to stay apolitical in a state sharply divided on ideological lines,” the statement said.
The KCCI said it wanted to make it clear that it will not be supportive of any initiative that lacks active participation of the local stake holding organisations and groups at the level of decision making.
“Kashmir has remained open to innovative ideation on new economies, ventures and enterprises. But the business will not accept any arbitrary decision taken without the participation of the local organisations, which are the prime movers of the state economy and continue to be so,” it added.
