SRINAGAR: Moments after the chief minister Omar Abdullah termed 2010 killings as his biggest regret, the families of the youth killed during the summer unrest of 2010 said the killings became main reason for Omars party to witness whitewash during the present state elections.
Mohammad Ashraf Mattoo, the father of slain Tufail Matoo said that Omars non- serious approach towards the killing of youth was incorrigible and that he never took any pains in giving justice to the families who lost their children during in 2010.
I believe that Omar is the main culprit for 2010 killings. It was he, who ordered the massacre of children. He could have saved our dear ones but he didnt, Matoo said.
He added that the families of those who have lost their kids have been devastated and it was the Chief Minister who is responsible for whatever is happening to his party at present. Our woes would never go waste. He will be punished one day for what he has done to us, Matoo added.
Farooq Ahmad Wani, father of slain teenager Wamiq Farooq said Omars regret at present caries no weight as he did nothing to give the affected families the justice when he was in power. He didnt even bother to assure action. He labelled our children as drug addicts and stone pelters and legitimized their killings. His words now are nothing but cry of a thief . Our tears would never go waste. I had a firm belief that one day Omar will regret but that will be too late for him, Farooq said, adding that the families of the slain teenagers have been devastated and everyday the mornings start with the mourning.
Abdul Qayoom, father of slain Umer Qayoom, says he remembers the day when he approached Omar Abdullah for justice and he ordered his peons to push us out of the office. I along with my daughter went to the office of Omar Abdullah that year. We didnt want jobs but only registration of FIR into the killing of my son. My daughter wept before Omar but he had no regrets. He threw us out of his office, Qayoom said.
More than 120 people, most of them teenagers, were killed during the summer unrest of 2010 in police action.
