Srinagar- A day after witnessing record 6,570 cases of infection since the onset of pandemic, Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday 5606 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus, while eight more people succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley registered on Wednesday 4,253 new cases of virus while 1353 were detected in the various districts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected by virus across J&K to 414772.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 1305 new cases of Coronavirus, Budgam 803, Anantnag 528, Baramulla 440, Kupwara 380, Ganderbal 297, Kulgam 265, Pulwama 134, Bandipora 66 and Shopian 35.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu registered a maximum of 678 new cases of virus, Ramban 181, Udhampur 129, Doda and Samba 84 each, Rajouri 78, Poonch 49, Kathua 38, Reasi 22 and Kishtwar 10.
“Moreover, 5005 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 1592 from Jammu Division and3413 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that eight more people, four each in Jammu and Kashmir died of Coronavirus related complications, taking the death toll in the pandemic to 4,635 in J&K—2264 in Jammu division and 2371 in Kashmir Valley.
The officials also said that no new cases of Mucormycosis were reported today, thus the total number of confirmed cases remains51 across J&K.
