Srinagar- Barring former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah, most of the mainstream politicians have not been invited to participate in the R-Day function being held in Srinagar on Wednesday.
According to sources from People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), the invitation has been stopped to many leaders post abrogation of Article 370.
However, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Member Parliament Farooq Abdullah has been invited by the authorities to attend the event.
Omar confirmed to Kashmir Observer that both he and his father have been invited. He however said that due to Covid-19 they won’t be able to attend.
“We have received the invitations however, we can’t attend public functions because of close family members testing positive for Covid a few days ago,” Omar said.
Sources from People Democratic Party (PDP), however told Kashmir Observer that the Party president Mehbooba Mufti has not received any invitation.
