Srinagar- Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir showed a slight decline on Monday as 5394 fresh cases were detected during the last 24 hours during which eight more people also succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley reported 3349 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus while 2045 were registered from various districts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K past 4 lakh mark.
On Saturday last, the J&K recorded its highest daily case count of 6568 since the onset of the pandemic in 2020.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 963 new cases of virus, Budgam 574, Baramulla 514, Kulgam 276, Kupwara 267, Bandipora 252, Anantnag 229, Pulwama 188, Ganderbal 51and Shopian 35.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu detected a maximum of 1204 new cases of Coronavirus, Udhampur 234, Doda 187, Ramban 121, Reasi 99, Samba 71, Kishtwar and Rajouri 40 each, Kathua 34 and Poonch 15.
“Moreover, 3643 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 1732 from Jammu Division and 1911 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that eight more people, four each from Kashmir and Jammu divisions, died of Coronavirus related complications, taking the death toll in the pandemic to 4613 in J&K—2253 in Jammu division and 2360 in Kashmir Valley.
The officials further said that no new cases of Mucormycosis were reported on Monday, thus the total number of confirmed cases remains 51 across J&K.
