SRINAGAR: Reiterating call for election boycott and shutdown in poll bound areas of Anantnag, Shopian and Srinagar on December 14, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday claimed that these elections are not justified and stressed that let people of Jammu and Kashmir decide their political destiny as per their aspirations.
In a statement Geelani said, Peace in subcontinent and Kashmir resolution are interlinked and just solution of Kashmir issue will definitely pave way for overall improvement and peaceful atmosphere for the people living in said region. We out rightly reject these manipulated elections.
People never believed in these elections as India always thrust its stooges through this, he alleged.
Lamenting at authorities for their tall claims about democracy, Geelani said, The ugly face of this democracy stand exposed in Kashmir. History speaks enough about their tall claims of being a big democracy as people were forced to cast their votes through coercion in 1987. They are promoting corruption and luring voter has become order of the day.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman in his appeal to people in poll bound areas impressed them to boycott elections to convey message to India that they have no faith in so called democracy of India.
We time and again asked our people to stay away from the election as India portrays these as a substitute for referendum and peoples mandate for occupation. We feel our responsibility to make people aware about the damaging impact of any negligence towards our duty, he said.
Geelani expressed his deep grief over demise of a blast victim, Fayaz Ahmad Dar in Tral and in his telephonic address to mourners, said that it is highly regretted that people feel no difference and on one hand they attend funerals of martyrs and on the other hand they forget these sacrifices and cast their votes.
He expressed his sympathy with the family of the injured girl in an acid throwing case and called this act an inhuman, shameful and against humanity. Geelani demanded stringent action against culprits and said that they are criminals and should not be spared at any cost.
