SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house arrest since Tuesday, was not allowed to offer Friday prayers today and was stopped from discharging his religious duties at historic Jamia Masjid, a Hurriyat (M) spokesman said in a statement.
State authorities once again resorting to their tyrannical measures imposed a ban on Mirwazs social, political and religious activities by confining him to his residence at Nageen, he said.
Decrying the dictatorial tactics adopted by the authorities, Mirwaiz in a statement said, By using force government can never break the resolve of pro-freedom leadership. By putting pro-freedom leadership in jails, placing them under house arrest, or suppressing their peaceful political activities by using force would in no way dislodge the Hurriyat leadership from not pursuing their much cherished goal of right to self determination. Election drama being staged in Kashmir could never be a substitute to right to self determination.
