SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajrendra Friday said that police have ensured adequate security measures for the conduction of the 4th phase of polls with the extra deployment of CRPF and police made on ground.
Talking to KNS, the state police chief said that in order to ensure smooth polling on December 14, they have taken all measures so that people could come out freely to cast their votes on Sunday. Security has been beefed up and extra deployment of CRPF and JK police has been made to ensure peaceful and smooth conduction of polls in Srinagar and other areas on December 14.
Over the volatile areas of Srinagar including Maisuma and other places at the old city, Rajnedra said that police will not allow any person to disrupt the poll process and to trigger panic in the areas. He said that the mischief makers have already been kept under preventive custody that so that polling could take place sans any disruption. We have taken into preventive custody the persons who would possibly disrupt the polling. We want to ensure that people must not remain fearful on the polling day, the DGP told KNS.
The state police chief said that the candidates contesting during the 4th phase of polling have been given extra security cover and also vigil is being maintained over the polling booths.
He added that whatever was required to keep poling peaceful on December 14 has been done and people should feel safe and secure in exercising their right. For safe and secure polling, we have not only taken all adequate security measures but have also ensured peaceful atmosphere which is required for the elections.
