SRINAGAR- The Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir (WGAJK) on Thursday announced the postponement of all its scheduled events and trials for the month of January. The events were to take place in Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
In a statement, WGAJK President Mohd Abbas Wani said that the events had to be postponed because of “unavoidable circumstances”.
“All the competitions of Alpine, Snowboard and Nordic events for junior and seniors boys and girls of North, South and Central districts, which were scheduled to be held at Gulmarg and Pahalgam venues on 17, 18 and 20th of January 2022, are hereby postponed due to unavoidable circumstances,” the statement said.
“Further the selection trials of same events for senior and junior men and women categories scheduled to be held on 28, 29 and 30th January 2022 at Gulmarg, are also postponed and the new dates for the same shall be published separately.”
Earlier on January 5, the Association had released their annual calendar of activity sessions scheduled for the latter half of the month. However, with rising COVID-19 cases uncertainty over mega sporting events has doubled around the globe.
