Srinagar- The daily Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed an unprecedented spike in the recent months as nearly 1700 people tested positive for the virus on Wednesday while one more person succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley registered 883 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus on Wednesday while slightly lesser cases of 812 were detected from various districts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K to 348201
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 320 new cases of virus, followed by Baramulla with 250 cases, Budgam 116, Kupwara 52, Anantnag 40, Bandipora 36, Pulwama 30, Kulgam 20, Ganderbal 18, while as Shopian reported single new case of Covid-19.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu registered a maximum of 438 fresh cases of Coronavirus, Kathua 93, Reasi 85, Udhampur 68, Rajouri 42, Samba 30, Poonch 22, Ramban 15, Doda 10 and Kishtwar 9.
Pertinently, the daily cases have witnessed four-fold spurt since last Wednesday when 418 cases were detected across the Union Territory.
“Moreover, 262 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 140 from Jammu Division and122 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that one more person died of Coronavirus related complications in Jammu division, raising the death toll in the pandemic to 4547 in J&K—2212 in Jammu and 2335 in Kashmir.
