SRINAGAR- The aspirants for the post of Prosecuting Officers (PO) are demanding deferment of exams citing various reasons including the harsh weather conditions.
The public service commission has notified the dates of the mains in the last week of December and the aspirants say that the time frame between the preliminary and main exam is not sufficient.
“The time frame between the preliminary and mains examinations is less and should be extended so that we get enough time to prepare” said a group of students. The students said there are other reasons as well for which they seek the deferment of the examinations.
The aspirants have also written to the Governor’s grievance cell, calling for the postponement of the examination.
“The harsh weather conditions in the valley will make it difficult for aspirants of far flung areas to reach the examination centres. There are other examinations in between as well so in the interest of the aspirants, the authorities should consider postponement of examination”said Waseem Mir, an aspirant.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Anil Sharma, Controller of Examinations, J&K Public Service commission said that the date sheet for the examinations has already been issued. As far as the issue of weather is concerned; they are making adequate heating arrangements in examination centres.
“If someone wants to appear in exams in Jammu for the sake of weather, we will allow that as well”. he said.
Furthermore, the deferment of exams will not be in the favour of students as the threat of omicron variants looms large, he noted.
“If the process of examinations is delayed, it will be delayed for months. It will affect students badly. The issue is also about the career of students as well” he said.
Replying to a question that students have other exams as well he said, If students can appear in other exams, they can appear in this exam as well.
Pertinently it is to mention that these posts have been designated as gazetted for the first time and the Public Service Commission is recruiting Prosecuting Officers for the very first time.
